    The quality of a good restaurant for breakfast is directly proportionate to the number of "blue hairs" dining mid morning. Ogie's was packed with old folks! I had the traditional bacon & eggs breakfast with a never ending cup of good strong coffee. Obie's kicks ass and balls!

    I called to see how I could get a copy of the menu because we wanted to order late breakfast at work. The lady that answered the phone was REALLY rude and said she "doesn't have time" to help me that I would have to go in. Umm.... I was just about to order food for 5 people at work AND get their name out there... Maybe an accessible menu online somewhere would help??? This place is always CRAZY when I go in there and if their food wasn't so good I would boycott them!

    After seeing all my Yelp friends check in here, I've been wanting to eat here for quite some time! When I finally managed to be in the right place at breakfast/lunch time I walked in with a small group of friends to one of the most crowded restaurants I've ever been in. However, I am usually extremely patient when it comes to waiting for good food, unfortunately I was disappointed with the wait-to-edible-food ratio. I did get to try a bite of multiple things (a perk of going with friends!) I tried the pancakes, the corned beef and hash, and the chicken fried steak. I will admit that the portion sizes are pretty huge! I did notice that just about everyone left with at least one box of leftovers. But, the quality of the food just wasn't there for me. To be brutally honest, I prefer IHOP's food (though it's not a huge improvement there). Yes, you get quite a bit more food at Ogie's for about the same price, but if it's not all that appetizing why would I want to eat it till I'm nearly in a food coma? I love pancakes. I mean, come on, it's cake for breakfast, but I have pretty high standards when it comes to said cakes. Serving a pancake that takes up over half of the table (while very filling) doesn't make up for a bland, over-cooked, extremely dense/floury cake. The chicken fried steak was even worse. Most of the breading had fallen off of the steak onto the plate, revealing a very tough, chewy, un-digestible cut of meat. The corned-beef and hash was more like, "Good luck finding the piece of corned-beef we threw into this mountain of potatoes." Oh well... at least the coffee was decent. Sorry to my Yelp friends who are Ogie's fans, but you won't be seeing me here again.

    Outdated greasy diner. One very rude waitress, so we moved to another table. Decent prices. It's non-smoking, but smelled so awful, the smell was in.our clothing. We had to change after. That's not happened before. We may go back. It's been six or seven years since the last time, so it may not be right away. We all did breakfast... Hubby does love the big breakfast burrito. :)

    The special burrito was amazing. So big!! I actually finished it though because the smothered chili Verde sauce was to good! I'm not sure if anything else there is good, but the burrito is worth the trip!

    Super good food and price! Customer service was great! Waitress was always on point when we needed a drink. Plus they have other employees going around to make sure everything is alright. My boyfriend ordered the special burrito and it was soo enormous he couldn't even finish it. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was way better than I was expecting! Their salsa is great! We left paying about 15$ ! They also have donuts and if even a little bit of the frosting is off they give it to you for free! Super friendly staff!

    Distorted memory. Went to Ogie's this morning and I swear I did it all wrong. This is the epitome of "greasy spoon", where locals gather for an early breakfast or to go lunch. Old school finishes, old school diner style. I called in a "special burrito" to go and I promise you, I thought it was much smaller the last time I had one. This behemoth of a Southwestern classic with scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham, and cheese is smothered in their house chile. Normally I'm all for "bang for buck" but this was indeed too much bang and too much buck ($9 for the burrito). It was an overwhelmingly huge burrito I couldn't stomach. Granted, the service was nice and my to go order was ready promptly, but it was a lot for me. I don't know how I could have eaten all that in the past, but for next time - I'll stick with the breakfast special. You know: eggs, bacon, toast for $3.99. No need to over do it. I was wrong this morning, so wrong.

    Savory food. That is what brings me into Ogies time and time again. The chicken fried steak is a dish that I always get. The hash browns with gravy melt in your mouth and the steak is cooked evenly and tastes even better mixed with the white gravy as well. I was with a group of people and just from looking at their dishes I would recommend the pancake burrito as well as the Ogies special. The pancake burrito comes with a burrito made of pancakes and yogurt and berries mixed within. The Ogies special is hash browns, cheese, eggs, bacon and ham. What else could you want? If you are looking for breakfast and don't want to travel into downtown definitely give this place a try. Just off redwood and 3300 south in west valley.

    Ogie's Cafe has been around for years, and I've just recently had the pleasure of stopping in. My attempts to visit in the past have been unsuccessful due to how busy this place can be on the weekends. If you can't bear to wait, come here on a weekday. I went with the Ogie's special, and for $8.99, it was well worth the enormous portion. I couldn't even finish half my plate. If a hearty dish filled with bacon, ham, sausage, eggs AND cheesy hash browns are you thing, you'll love this option. They even have some breakfast options for only $3.99 which is a pretty awesome deal that I'll have to consider next time.

    Ogie's is a good place to eat breakfast at. Food is good, service is okay. But I went there today and there was a cockroach on my table and I'm very disgusted so I wouldn't go there again.

    I was really excited to try this place out and finally got the chance with some friends. We had to wait for a table which I will not complain about, I figure full seats means they are doing something right. However once we were served our food I was disappointed. As I sat their eating I was confused as to how this place was so high rated. One reason I was told was the prices, I don't know where everyone else eats but the prices aren't any better than most breakfast dinners. I ordered the chicken fired steak, the breading was gross and soggy and already falling off half of the meat before I touched it. The Hash browns were unseasoned and not crispy at all. To top it off I know the gravy used was probably pored out of a can and microwaved. I just king of felt ripped because I can make such better food at home.

    OMG!!! This was two firsts for me! All the waiters and waitress are very nice, a great atmosphere. And oh man! I LOVED the biscuits and gravy which I tried for the first time. Both my husband and son loved the pancakes. For sure we will come back!!! P.S. They have Irish Cream for the coffee which was the cherry on top!

    Come hungry! I wish I could remember thence of the scramble / skillet item I get. Hash, mushrooms, peppers, avocados (freshly cut) and two eggs over easy. Without single hesitation the value and the portions are AWESOME. Always worth the wait and always a reason it's packed. Definitely not a light meal and plan for a nap afterwards. A nap filled with happy dreams.

    I saw this place all the time when I worked not too far from here. I never came in. What a mistake. This is old school diner, except a little larger. The owner is there keeping on top of the Sunday morning crowd. He directs traffic and find seats. The server is friendly and is constantly making the rounds seeing that everything is OK. The coffee is better than expected. The plates are huge for a small price. The food is excellent for the price. People are happy. The servers look happy. I can't think of much to complain about. It gets a rare 5 star restaurant review.

    Good food for a good price. I paid $8 ($3.99 for a special that included 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast and hash browns and $4.00 for bacon) for a good meal. The bacon was cooked well- crispy and crunchy and not exceptionally greasy. The poached eggs were so-so (a bit watery) and the browns were average. The best part about this place and the main reason i am giving it 4 stars was the homey atmosphere and good service!

    Prices are great, service is fast. The place is a little crowded and old. The portions are big. Every omelette comes with hash brown and choice of toast. I got their special, the hamburger, pepperjack, mushroom omlette and it was greasy due to the meat. But it was tasty!

    You get what you pay for which is a good amount of food for little $ while I'm a little concerned about how clean the dishes and tables where the food was amazing for a very cheap price. I recommend breakfast burrito

    The food was OK., I tried the marinated pork and I'm still tasting it 3 hours on. The place smells like a mix of B.O. and food. Our waitress was really good and nice, she looked just like Iggy Pop but with eye liner. I had Iggy Pop & the Stooges tunes running through my head the whole time I was there.

    08-22-2011 A winner. Good food, large quantities, served hot, good staff. A great find. I had the Veggie Skillet and my wife had pancakes with bacon on the side. My breakfast was great. The waitress and bus boy kept our coffee filled to the top. If we would have driven by this place w/o reading the review, we would have kept on driving. This is the first time we've taken the iPad on a road trip. Using Yelp has been a big help. This place was crowded with what looked like local folks. Seniors, people on the way to work. A good, warm feeling. Unpretentious

    A lot of 3s I give out are temporarily in mind, meaning that they are 3 based on whatever I tried or X number of visits, but I expect them to improve as I go there more. This is one of those. The place is a hole, parking spots are tight and cramped, the stools are too high to the counter, there are two entrances into the place and evidently its seat-yourself. I got a battered menu with a lot of plain, standard, pedestrian choices and a cheap cup of tea and overall felt right at home, though they moved a lot slower than I liked. I went with their breakfast special, as it was one of those few times I felt like breakfast for lunch and its a good test to try out a place like this when they have a special named after themselves. If they can't do that right, odds are they won't do anything else right, either. I saw it come out with some cheap buttered toast and saw the melted process American cheese slices on the hash browns and got nervous (read my previous breakfast spot reviews to see just how much I like those squares of orange-ish cheese on my hash browns) but was eased when I also saw some decent looking eggs when the plate came out. Now, these are not especially skilled egg chefs in that their over-medium egg was undercooked even for over-easy (which I kind of expected), but this place definitely captured the greasy spoon feel. This is one of the better ones I've been to and I've been to these all over the country. You have some locals, a bunch of tacky crap here and there and a waiter who was bouncing like a pinball trying to keep things clicking. The kitchen staff did a great job with the bacon, which is a very good quality bacon, did an acceptable job on the sausage, another great job on the ham and the hash browns and cheese were overall very uneven and inconsistent. Price is reasonable and you get a lot of food. Let's be real here for a second. This is not now nor will it ever be a 5 star joint, but I fully expect them to be a 4 and frankly, this is the exact kind of spot you hope for (but rarely find, if you're me) on road trips.

    Ogie's is probably my favourite brunch spot in SLC, This is a west side, working class joint where the portions are large and served with no pretense. On Saturdays and Sundays it will be packed so seek out Little Ogie (George, the owner) and get your name on the list to get a table. The servers are efficient and BUSY, so don't take offense if they don't linger around to chat. The special breakfast burrito will be enough for both brunch and dinner.

    Happened to walk in this dive this morning and bellied up to the bar. Cowboy pictures on the walls, old men sipping coffee in the same seat they have been occupying for 20+ years and a waitress with a genuine smile and happy nature about her. She recommended the special for today. NY Strip Steak and eggs (cooked your way), perfect hash browns and an English muffin. I listened to her banter back and forth with the tried and true regulars as if everyone could be content and happy all the time. Her recommendation was dead on, perfectly cooked steak, eggs just right and not too much butter on the muffin. It really took me back to my days going for breakfast with my grandfather at the local diner in south Georgia. Don't expect the ritz or nice china. Expect great pricing and a touch of home.

    We ate here for breakfast last weekend after reading the positive reviews. We love going out to breakfast on the weekend but usually drive somewhere on the Eastside like Flynn's in Sugar House or the Millcreek Cafe on 33rd. We were hoping to find someplace closer to home and as it would so happen Ogie's Cafe was great! When we showed up on Sunday morning the cafe was BUSY! They was a big group of people waiting but as a party of two we were seated right away -- which was awesome. Ogie's has a big menu and lots of breakfast options. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito which turned out to be super tasty (she let me have a few bites) and I ordered a pretty typical breakfast -- two eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bacon and toast with orange juice. When our food was served it was hot and the portions were HUGE! My wife's breakfast burrito was especially huge. Ogie's definitely offers good value for your money and at prices that were a lot less than the Eastside cafes we've been frequenting. My food was good but I wish the hashbrowns had been more browned. Next time I'm going to ask that they cook them more. But other than needing salt and pepper the food was good. As far as service goes Ogie's was also good. The gentlemen who seated us and the waitress who covered our section were both friendly and took good care of us. Our waitress checked up on our table regularly and made sure we had what we wanted. I'm happy to have found a good breakfast joint that is close to home. We'll definitely be eating at Ogie's Cafe again.

    Ogie's is one of my go to places, I eat there whenever I get a chance, I have been going to Ogie;s for 30 years. Almost everything on their menu is great and at very reasonable prices. Some of the noteables: 1. Homemade Chili on Wednesday, get an endless bowl or ask for the Chili Burger 2. The Special Burrito, breakfast wrapped in a huge tortilla smothered in verde, if you aren't especially hungry ask for the half burrito, it is really about 3/4 the size but can save you a few bucks and calories 3. Fries, home cut fries 4. Bacon Cheese Burger, big beefy and flavorful, don't forget those fries.

    Wow I am so surprised at how good of reviews this place gets. The carpet is awful. Our food was cold and tasteless. We had to dump salt and hot sauce on it. The sourdough bread tasted like white bread. The service was pretty bad, our waitress was obviously way too busy. And the kind of people that frequent the restaurant are not let's say the highest caliber. We will definitely not be going back.

    Love this divey place. I haven't been out West in a while but I found this place while waiting for a movie at the new Megaplex at Valley Fair Mall, which has cleaned up nicely I might add. The staff is very friendly, including the bus boy who was working noticeably hard. I got the special burrito I believe which had scrambled eggs, hash browns, and I traded ham for bacon. Smothered with red chili and cheese. Epic. And almost as big as my forearm. I can't believe I ate the entire thing. And it was only $7.99! Interesting crowd, a lot of older White people and I do enjoy seeing people of color when I go out. Many Hispanics and Asians. A lot of country looking White people, cowboy hats and stuff, fitting considering the inside of the place is decorated cowboy theme. Many vegetarian options as well. My girlfriend loved the greek omelette but loved the toast even more for some reason. Whenever I'm out this way, perhaps to get bubble tea from gossip right next door, I'll definitely visit here.

    Reading all the reviews on this app made me think this place would be fantastic. I was pretty disappointed. The food was alright. Not a lot of flavor or personality. The food was warm, but it wasn't hot. The server was nice enough and the prices were fine. Just not impressed overall.

    The most pleased I've been in years with a breakfast diner. Big portions for great prices. Special Burrito is a definite must try if it's your first time there. Fast restaurant, always busy, but our waitress was quick. You know an establishment is worth waiting in line for if their parking lot is always packed. Coming back here for sure!

    Never been here before, but I was really impressed. It's definitly a bit of a dive, but the food is good, cheap and the service was excellent. I really liked the french dip and the steak fries were tasty too. The only bad thing is that they close at 3pm.

    One of Salt Lake's best hidden gems!! Great food for even better prices. Love the layout of the spot. It's got that cowboy diner feel to it. Coffee is always brewing and waiters are quick to deliver. Been going here for the last ten years and never once had a bad experience. Sad it closes at 3pm but that makes it more exclusive. I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone. All breakfast special items are dee-lish!!

    My girlfriend and I went in there and had French dip sub and a chicken chimichanga and split we was wishing we would've only ordered one dish because they were both very delicious but very big would highly recommend.

    I think this is just about the best a diner gets while still being a true authentic diner. There are many other "Diners" out there that are similar and maybe even have better food (Blue Plate Diner springs to mind) but unlike many of those this isn't a former diner that has morphed into a "quaint" yuppie hangout. Let me put it another way. If there's 15 Harleys out front, a table full of 65+ year olds drinking coffee arguing why the city was better in the 50s when it was a rural center, a bar full of local construction and road workers, and other assorted neighborhood regulars, then you're probably in real diner. Ogie's has always been known for having a good cheap breakfast. My dad remembers going there when he first moved into the valley and getting a $.99 breakfast, I remember when it was still under $2. Recent inflation means that $2.99 gets you 2 eggs, toast and hashbrowns. Add a couple more dollars for your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. There are of course sandwiches and burgers as well but I can't picture going in for anything other than a quick breakfast and endless cups of coffee. Which I'm pleased to say is FREQUENTLY topped off for you; basically they'll fill it as fast as you drink it. As I mentioned before this is also a great place to do some people watching, certainly there are quite a lot of colorful characters that come through and it's fun just to hang out over a coffee talking with friends and watching others do the same. Overall: Quick service. Coffee is always topped off for you. Breakfast is good and cheap. The place has a very relaxed and open atmosphere.

    I wanted to come here after reading the reviews. We had lunch here and not breakfast so I can only speak to that meal. I thought it looked like a local down home restaurant with nothing notable about the place except the large dining area and counter with a good crowd for lunch. I'm not a fan of plastic menus but this one fit and had all the basics you would expect with a couple of specials each day. We had fish and chips, turkey sandwich, salad and 2 different kinds of home made soup. All the food was delivered quickly. One soup was not warm but they heated it up right away and actually made some variations to the menu. Everything was under $10 a piece and a great bargain as well as a speedy place to be served and eat. They were cleaning tables as fast as people were finished and the deserts looked great. Wonderful looking pies and cakes that were prepared in the cafe. This is great for locals or anyone on a budget. Nothing fancy but a good deal and fresh food.

    I had a good breakfast here today. I had the special burrito which is a breakfast burrito smothered in green chile. I enjoyed it. It wasn't knock your sock off great, but nothing to complain about. I also had a cinnamon roll, which was good, but I've had better (Village Baker and Sill's Cafe come to mind). Service was great. I would go back if I was in the area.

    Great food and great service! This place is a fun little cafe with cowboy art on the walls. My dad likes everything very well done (I.e burned) and it's really hard to get anything cooked to his specifications. This place nailed it on the first try! I had The special burrito, huge and crazy good! Our waitress noticed I liked my food spicy and asked if I would like to try the house hot sauce the cook makes in the back. That was hands down the best hot sauce I have ever had! ! Really well balanced and flavorful, not just burning. This is the place to go!

    This place is great. It is a must for breakfast anytime I'm in town. Good food great prices and portions range from just enough to OMG I'm gonna need help. Enough said. If you are in SLC you gotta stop by, but bring a healthy appetite and some patience on the weekends as it is usually SRO around breakfast time.

    They have an awesome breakfast and lunch. We have always loved going there. Best place to eat breakfast in all of salt lake city. A little small, but they make up for it in there portion sizes. Good people that own the place. When we come back to visit family this is the first place we will come to eat.
